The table settings below aren’t strictly in keeping with the structure or geometry of a deco theme. They’re not as fabulous or glitzy as a Gatsby-style party. But, for want of a better word, I think they’re whimsical. Not too over the top, but still elegant looking (at least, I hope they will be, once it all comes together in the venue).
We are in an old art deco theatre in Mosman Park and hopefully small details like the place cards will help tie it all together. The proteas I hope to have in my bouquet are, I think, very structured and have the clean lines you might expect in an art deco theme – to repeat those in the reception flowers might also help.
Here’s another pic we took last week, mucking around with stationery and candles in glass jars. The place card is stylistically similar to the invites we’re designing, which are themselves based on advertisements in old French fashion magazines.
(And thanks to Vintage Glam Blog for the flower ideas once again – they are the paper ones used to make the pomanders I showed in an earlier post).
